crocheted blanket

Finished my very first crocheting project since I was… nine years old? And already, it’s quite a big one! A few months ago, I promised my bestie to make her something for her new home (which is completely mint-themed), so when I saw this acrylic wool at Zeeman, I knew I had to crochet her a blanket. To make it less in-yo-face and more on-trend, I decided to mix the mint-colored yarn with white to create an ombre effect. Couldn’t be happier with how that turned out! To sum up: I used ten bolls of yarn (that cost me only €8,90 total), lots of hours of work (gotta learn to crochet faster haha) and some sore hands and fingers, but I think it was totally worth it. And to guess from my friend’s surprised and happy reaction, it was!

1000m of mint-colored yarn (3-4mm)
1000m of white-colored yarn (3-4mm)
8mm hook

Use two strands of yarn at a time: for the first 1/3th two strands of mint, for the second 1/3th one strand of mint and one strand of white, for the last 1/3th two strands of white. Chain 115 (+2 for your first row of double crochet) and turn the work, double crochet 115 (+2) and turn, double crochet 115 again (+1) and turn, crochet 115 (+2) and turn, half double crochet 115 (+2) and turn. Start over with the two rows of double crochet. Easy as that! In the end, the blanket will be 1m in width (more or less) and 120cm in length, so change colors after every 40cm!

Sorry for the bad quality pics, but it was really cloudy and rainy outside when I made them, so that was not very ideal. Makes the idea of wrapping myself in a handmade blanket even more cozy though!

Het is dan ook wel 100% acryl hoor, maar de kwaliteit valt me absoluut alles mee! Hij is heerlijk zacht geworden en prikt niet, dus zeker een aanrader om even bij de Zeeman te koekeloeren voor garen!
