week 39

Less busy than last week (thank god)(I mean last week was fun, but thank god), but week 39 has certainly not be a boring one. I’m kinda proud of myself for getting back on track with a lot of things and I feel like my hard work is beginning to pay off. I’m not there yet, on the contrary, there still is so much to do, but here’s what I accomplished!

I start my week as I promised in my previous diary, with “studying and cleaning, to balance out the damage done”. I decide to begin with sorting out my books, documents and administrative papers. It takes aaaaaaages (partly due to the fact that I immediately photograph all books I wanna sell), but it’s so worth it in the end, ‘cause the results are: three empty shelves, of which one could then be filled with library books, which resulted in a completely clean table (that is a long time ago). An empty table screams for thesis planning and blogpost writing, so that’s what I do afterwards (I write my previous diary and the DeBrosse blanket scarf post). On top of that, I do groceries and clean the litter box. BAM.

Rissla Ikea organizer

Go and grab this Ikea Rissla organizer as fast as you can! It’s the most convenient thing ever and since I started using it, my working table (which is also my dinner table) has stayed perfectly tidy!

I desperately wanna continue this flow of productivity, but I find it hard to get things done when I have things planned. In the morning, Luuk and I go to my parents, where we stay longer than expected because Luuk helps my dad fixing a little fountain in my parents’ garden. Luckily, I can read some literature for school while I wait. I continue reading back home and go to a performance of the ancient Greek tragedy Antigone at night. It was a really good performance, which stayed very close to the original (all roles were played by just three actors, just as in Antiquity, so cool haha). Afterwards, we were allowed to ask the actors and the director all of our questions, which was really interesting (and fun) as well.

Antigone Unplugged

Aluin is the name of the group performing. I found this pic via a very positive review on Theaterkrant.

Luuk and I both work hard today: he studies for his upcoming simulator test and does some household things, I continue reading the literature for class. At the end of the day, I’m finished, which leaves me with extra time for other study tasks tomorrow!

DeBrosse NYC

The DeBrosse post came online today!

It’s library time again! Together with two study friends, we chat up on our thesis topics (it’s always so inspiring and fruitful to discuss your ideas with others) and I work on a paper about the excavations in Greece that I wanna finish at the end of October (hopefully earlier). In the afternoon, I meet up with a colleague to help her find the perfect glasses. I don’t know what she needed my help for, ‘cause she already selected two awesome frames for me to choose from. After we unanimously voted for a nerdy, but still feminine black frame, we had coffee at our favorite coffee bar. Afterwards, I needed to work, and szzzjoofff, another day went by.

stockinette stitch

I don’t devote a lot of time to knitting lately, but I still think it’s the perfect thing to do to wind off after busy days like these.

I do some last class preparations and go to Amsterdam. The lecture is more interesting than last week, but I still can’t wait to get started with my own research of Paestum. Afterwards, I meet up with my two besties and my parents and have dinner with my parents as well. Once at home, I feel like I’ve returned from traveling to the end of the world.

merely Merel

Got this knitted sweater from a friend, who doesn’t wear it. The length is bit awkward (not long and not cropped), but I love the colors, stitch and cozyness of it!

I sleep late, which I don’t understand, ‘cause I sleep nine hours each night and I’m still tired?! Anyhow, I get up slowly as well and wait for Luuk to come home from his simulator session in London. He brings McFlurry M&M for breakfast, hihi! Then we go out and cycle around the neighborhood to look for a cool coffee place we haven’t visited before. We end up at Zwart Goud, which is a cozy little cafe with vintage furniture that is also on sale! After some delicious coffee and food, we cycled around looking for a nice outfit-shoot-spot (anyone familiar with this – sometimes frustrating – quest haha?). We finally found one, took some photos (on the blog soon!) and returned home at 4pm (!), woah. It’s hard for me to accept to have accomplished nothing on a day off, but at the same time, I need to learn to enjoy days like these, when I can spend my time without a prescheduled plan. Just doing whatever it is you feel like doing at that particular moment, it seems to go completely against my nature, but who doesn’t need it every once in a while?

I got my Polette order in the maaaiiilllll… Soon more pics!

week 39

“Dat is een Instagrammetje!”

Posted on the blog today, the third and last part of our one-day-trip-out-of-the-hotel in Turkey, including pictures of the Manavgat waterfall!

I work all day and have drinks with colleagues afterwards (on a terrace, the weather is still so beautiful!), ‘cause one of them is leaving us! Then I go for dinner with Luuk and a friend of his. Sounds like a perfect Sunday evening right? That’s exactly what it was!

week 39

^^ Hihi :):)

I’m definitely going to try to keep this productivity flowing! Besides school, I also noticed my blog efforts are showing off lately, I’ve noticed more traffic here as well as on my various social media. That was about time! I’m planning on posting more about some blogging-related topics in the near future, so stay tuned!
