Agios Nikolaos

I didn’t make as many pictures in Thorikos as I used to, but camera-wise I was very productive on our last evening, shooting pictures of the site and surroundings. I think they turned out really well and perfectly reflect the nicest part of the day, when it’s finally cooling down and you’re able to actually look around and enjoy the view without having to wear sunglasses. The picture above shows a very familiar view in which you can both see the peninsula Agios Nikolaos and the island of Makronisos (red colored), which is now uninhabited, but that was once used as a prison (creepy huh?).

Thorikos Hygieia

You’ll find a clearer picture below, but this ruinous structure is interpreted as the Temple of Hygieia, goddess of hygiene.

palm tree

The view from our bedroom. Don’t get fooled by the fancyness though, the house we sleep in is kinda crappy haha.

If I’m not mistaken, this building was once built in order to facilitate some tourist-related stuff, but once they put a fence around the ancient theatre, they decided there was not enough money to finish it all, so there are some strange modern-looking but empty buildings at the entrance of the archaeological site (which you can still enter for free, since the fence isn’t closed).

from where I stand

I’ve been wearing my Birkies over and over again. Love these vintage cut-off Levi’s as well (I’ll show you properly in an outfit post when the weather gets better here in The Netherlands).

temple of Hygieia

Again, the temple of Hygieia.

sunset nature

As you can tell, no really special pictures, but I hope you still liked this evening-impression of Thorikos.
